Join a community of changemakers, creatives and leaders in becoming wise, resilient and reshaping the world

A community to get wiser, braver and skilled for the long haul. Opens 2027.

Becoming the people the world needs.

We live at a profound time in human history, shaped by climate change, the erosion of public trust, increasing war & violence, AI, fraying democracy, cultures of burnout and more.

But we get to choose how we respond and lead through this time.

We can become wiser, more imaginative, courageous humans, capable of leading through deep uncertainty.

We can develop the skills of leadership, conflict reconciliation and nonviolence; sowing more flourishing futures.

We can become artists of a more just, loving and regenerative world.

Join us, as we skill up together.

Because here’s what the world doesn’t need…

  1. Exhausted, overwhelmed, stretched thin humans operating from patterns of scarcity and extraction.

  2. Us feeling small, alone, self-doubting or scared of our next steps. This time is calling for radical imagination and audacious action.

  3. To be saved, fixed or rescued. Our world may however need caring, tending, healing, recovering, rewilding, restitching, liberating, disrupting, building, understanding, reimagining, remaking and loving.

  4. Isolated pockets and individuals of change. We reshape the world through our relationships - and importantly, through creating islands of coherence, and allowing a new world to seed in us, as us and through us.

  5. Us to forget that we all co-create this world, and that we each - no matter who we are, where we are or our perceived level of power - have a role to play in its reshaping.

What we need is better questions.

More wisdom.

More imagination.

A wide range of skills and capacities.

And we need community - we need each other.

How do we heal & transform conflict?

*

How do we ensure we don't replicate the dynamics of capitalism and supremacy?

*

Can we restitch our relational fabric?

*

How do we navigate living within capitalism with integrity?

*

How might we tend to the spiritual needs of movement?

*

What becomes possible if we saw collapse as a reshaping - something we could engage in?

*

How do we ensure we don't burn out?

*

What might a healthy relationship to the natural world look like?

*

What happens if we reimagine everything?

*

Does protest still work?

*

We each have a role to play in remaking the world.

What’s yours?

We use the term changemaker in its broadest sense.

As much as we need activists, politicians and impact professionals driving change, we also need teachers, artists, engineers, creatives, accountants, healers, coders, spiritual teachers, farmers, doctors, social entrepreneurs and so much more.

And likely… you’re already somewhere on this journey.

  • You may have chosen a profession where you could make an impact, but now feeling overwhelmed or powerless amidst the scale of the world’s problems.

  • You might be a few years into work you started with real enthusiasm, but the system isn’t changing so easily, burnout has already begun and you’re questioning your role.

  • You might already have a vision of something you want to create, but no real peer group to talk the idea out, test it with or build it.

  • Or, you might have done the personal development already - read the books, listened to the podcasts, gone to therapy, retreats, courses; and found that it often was divorced from the larger world work this time calls for, or couldn’t understand systemic injustice.

Wherever you are in the journey, if you’re looking for a community to help shape the world as it is, into the world as it could be… welcome.

What do you learn in the membership?

Getting Free: Unlearning the Stories of Capitalism, Domination and Separation

Unlearning the stories that have shaped the world as it is; stories of scarcity, domination, separation.  Stories that keep us burnt out, playing small, recreating toxic dynamics and overriding our needs and desires.

If we are to reshape the world, we need to learn to transform these stories, both in our outer systems - economic, cultural, political - but also the way the stories live within us; in our bodies, mindsets, habits and values.

We each have a role to play in remaking the world - are you playing yours?

You’ll have time to unpack why you do the work you do, whether a change is needed, whether you’re a builder, healer or disruptor - and how to navigate that messy, liminal, in-between space.

This is also where we start to reckon honestly with power: where you already hold it, and where you may have been taught to deny it.

Find What’s Yours To Do In This Time

How do we deal with conflict & opposing view points while staying in relationship?

How do we expand our vision and see more possibilities?

How can we hold complexity and nuance, in a world that likes to simplify?

The answer lies in skills we can develop. From imagination and creativity, to conflict reconciliation and nonviolence, to systems thinking - these are all skills, and skills we can learn through engaging with practice.

Skill Building

Build Resilience & Your Inner Foundations

Exhaustion, stress and burnout do not serve the world.

Build your resilience to stay with long haul work, and develop the emotional and moral musculature you need; courage, vulnerability, compassion and more.

Gather Community

It can be lonely when not everyone gets it, you’re looking ahead of other people, or you don’t have community to share your visions with.

But as the chemist Ilya Prigogine put it, “small islands of coherence in a sea of chaos have the capacity to shift the entire system to a higher order”.

Meet your people, erupt islands.

What the membership looks like

Sanctuary

Is this the right community for you?

This is for you if…

✅ You want to step out of theory into tangible - you’ve read the likes of adrienne maree brown or Robin Wall Kimmerer, you’ve listened to the podcasts, and are wondering how to actually do the work? on a personal and community level.

✅ You find yourself in a liminal space, knowing a transition is coming, but unsure how it might look. You’re looking for somewhere to help you connect with your callings, get clarity and support you in your next, most meaningful step (whatever that might look like).

✅ You’re looking for the others: a community that understands collapse and polycrisis, while also remaining hopeful and committed to showing up in the world.

✅ You do meaningful work (paid or unpaid), but it feels small in the face of the world’s crises and wondering how to hold it all. You’re looking to build the moral and emotional musculature of courage, hope, power and compassion.

✅ You’re tired of the passion tax (paid in exhaustion, martyrdom and stress), and asking how to bridge work that’s impactful & meaningful with a life that feels joyful, energetic and fulfilling.

✅ You’re looking to build the skills of changemaking: from navigating conflict and power dynamics, to creativity and moral imagination, to storytelling.

This is not for you if…

❌ This space is not for people trying to network to find a job or your next project or co-founder (although you might meet someone you work or collaborate with!).

❌ If you feel nothing can change, it’s too late, or are looking for a space to channel despair, this is not for you.

❌ This is not for you if you believe changemaking is purely an outside job, disconnected from the sacred or inner work. Nor is this group if you believe this is purely a spiritual or inner job. At Scintilla, we look at head, heart and hands together, the inner and outer in relationship.

❌ You don’t want to meet people! We welcome the stranger, and much of this work is done in community.

❌ You are not committed to creating a more just, loving and regenerative world - knowing this work can take any form, title or capacity.

❌ This group is not for therapy, trauma dumping or explicit eco-therapy. Although all emotions and journey are welcome - we do not avoid the dark night - this container isn’t a space to compost it all. It’s a container of co-creation, wisdom, imagination, support and becoming.

How We Gather

In coming together, we work to become wiser, more imaginative, hopeful, skilled humans capable of greeting and transforming today’s challenges.

In doing so, there are certain principles that allow us to gather well together. Part of being in the Scintilla community means we:

  • Welcome the stranger: Say hello to other members, introduce yourself, connect over coffees & chats. We commit to building relationships that matter.

  • At online gatherings, we are present and participate fully. This means our cameras are on.

  • We live in a time of profound change and disruption: in response, we cultivate radical imagination and creativity.  Imagination is encouraged, fostered and welcomed in every conversation.

  • Own your power. You are invited to not just ‘dream big’, but to practice being a good steward of power, to take bold, brave and tangible steps to help bend our “moral arc toward justice”, and reimagine the world.

  • We do not try to fix, heal, mansplain or lecture one another: We allow ourselves instead to practice, learn, share, reflect, discern, offer, ask and become.

  • Chatham House Rules: You are welcome to share learnings, discussions, insights, stories from the community - but to protect privacy, we do not identify a specific person from which they came.

Behind Scintilla

Laura Hartley

I’m the founder & lead facilitator of the Scintilla Centre.

I’ve always been interested in the power of stories; in their capacity to connect us, transform us, in their ability to offer wisdom and inspire meaning.  Our relationship to stories also shaped my decision to become a coach, to help us challenge our the limiting stories we tell about ourselves.

As a climate activist, I saw stories also lived at the heart of our crises. Stories of scarcity, extraction, violence and separation.  I began to wonder how we might change these - and how we might become wiser, more joyful, whole human beings along the way.

Because something I believe is that changemaking isn’t meant to be a struggle.

There’s effort, yes.
It’s long haul work, yes.

And we must also allow our bodies to be the seeds of our desired world. That we plant the conditions for flourishing within our lives, relationships, communities

Some people will refer to this time in the world as collapse, the metacrisis, the Long Dark or the Great Turning. At Scintilla, we call it a Reshaping, knowing that how we engage with this time - with our work, our life, our choices - will shape what it is we and future generations experience.

Scintilla is a classroom, laboratory and gathering space for those who know another world is possible.

If this is you - welcome. I’m so glad you can join us.
