Power & Possibility
On Becoming a Good Steward of Power
Most of us weren't taught how to think about power, let alone use it well.
We learned that power is something other people have. That wanting it makes you suspect. That claiming it might make you dangerous, or selfish, or like the very leaders we don't want to become.
So we hold back. We wait for permission. We diminish our own influence while wishing others would step up.
But here's the truth: you already have power. The question is whether you're willing to recognize it, understand how it works, and learn to steward it in service of the change you want to see.
That's what this series is about.
For changemakers ready to understand the power they hold and learn to wield it with skill and integrity.
Over three weeks of live sessions, we'll create space to examine power as changemakers. Not power as an abstract concept, but power as something you hold, encounter, and can learn to work with more skillfully.
Week One: Understanding Your Power
We'll map the different forms power takes and where you already hold it. Many changemakers struggle to see their own power or dismiss it when others name it. We'll look at why that happens and begin untangling the stories that keep us from stepping forward.
Week Two: Power & Its Shadows
Power intersects with shame, with anger, with violence. Sometimes our fear of power comes from conflating it with harm. We'll explore these uncomfortable intersections and what it takes to work with power's complexities without collapsing into simple binaries.
Week Three: Stewardship
What does it look like to steward our power well? How do we respond when others use power unjustly? How do we challenge power while holding our own? We'll practice discernment, work with boundaries, and build capacity to be a good steward of power.
By the end, participants will have:
Clearer understanding - and feeling - of the power they hold across different contexts
Language for distinguishing between forms of power
Capacity to recognise power dynamics as they unfold
Practices for working with the emotions that arise around power
Greater skill in responding to power, both their own and others'
This isn't a course that resolves every power dynamic or provides scripts for every situation. Power is contextual, relational, and requires ongoing practice. What the series offers is foundation: frameworks, practices, and community to support continued development.
What You'll Explore
This might be for you if…
You want to deepen your impact as a changemaker but find yourself hesitating when it's time to speak up, challenge a decision, or put your ideas forward.
You're navigating organisational dynamics where power shows up in ways that feel confusing or uncomfortable, and you're not sure how to respond.
You feel uneasy when someone describes you as powerful, or you find yourself dismissing your own influence.
You're ready to stop waiting for permission and start understanding how to use what you have in service of change.
You want to lead differently than the models you've seen, but you're not sure what that looks like in practice.
What You’ll Receive
Three 90-minute live calls where we'll think together, explore frameworks, and hold space for the complexity of these questions. These aren't lectures - they're facilitated conversations where your experience matters.
Weekly practices and reflections that take 30-60 minutes. You'll work with a workbook between sessions to deepen your understanding and build capacity.
Recorded sessions so you can engage on your own schedule if you can't make it live.
A community of changemakers grappling with the same questions. This work doesn't happen in isolation.
By the end, you'll have clearer language for the power you hold, more capacity to recognise power dynamics as they unfold, and practices for wielding your influence with greater skill and intention.
About This Series
Power & Possibility is drawn from material in Cultural Wayfinding, our flagship twelve-week programme exploring paradigm shift and regenerative leadership. We've created this focused series for those who want to explore this specific dimension of the work: understanding and stewarding power.
If you're interested in the full Cultural Wayfinding journey, it runs in Autumn 2026 and explores power alongside other dimensions of changemaking: composting cultural stories, embodiment practices, relational skills, visioning, and systems prototyping. This series stands alone and can be taken independently.
If you plan to join Cultural Wayfinding in Autumn 2026, you may wish to wait for that rather than taking this series, as the material overlaps. If you're not ready for a twelve-week commitment or want to focus specifically on developing your relationship with power, Power & Possibility is designed for you.
If you do join Power & Possibility and then enrol in Cultural Wayfinding, you'll be eligible for a course discount.
Throughout 2026, Scintilla Centre is holding space for those navigating the transition between worlds.
We're offering focused programmes on different aspects of this work: finding your calling (Rise), understanding power, practicing nonviolence, and Getting Free (inner work for systems change).
Facilitator - Laura Hartley
Laura Hartley is the founder of Scintilla Centre.
Her work emerged from her experience in climate and environmental activism. She understands the challenges that change-work brings and the skills required for impactful work: relationship building, creativity, conflict reconciliation, storytelling.
As a coach and the founder of Scintilla Centre, Laura supports changemakers in developing the skills, wisdom, and community needed to remake the world.
The Scintilla Approach
Scintilla Centre works at the intersection of systems change, contemplative practice, and cultural transformation. We create learning spaces for changemakers developing the wisdom and capacities this time requires.
Our programs integrate systems thinking with somatic wisdom, radical imagination, and relational practice, and we work with those who believe a more just & regenerative world is possible.
We believe transformation happens at multiple scales simultaneously, that inner work and outer work are inseparable, and that shifting culture requires understanding the paradigms we've inherited and consciously choosing to seed alternatives.
This Power Series begins on Monday, 18 May 2026 and runs for three weeks at 10am Pacific | 1pm Eastern | 6pm BST | 7pm CET.
This 3-week program includes three live 90 minute Zoom sessions and a homework material to help support and guide your journey outside of and beyond the program.
Program Investment: £300

Praise for Cultural Wayfinding
Lucy, United States
“From the readings, to the discussions, to the facilitation and pace, this course offers an opportunity for both seasoned activists and newcomers to find a reflective place to deepen their understanding and practice, while leaning into envisioning new possibilities...”
Ruth, Australia
“Every session left me full of ideas, thoughts, questions, and a much deeper understanding of myself and my purpose in this world. I loved this course - and all the wonderful people from all over the world who shared this space - and, while so thankful to have been involved, I'm quite sad that it has come to an end.”
